Color Publishing Systems by Xerox and Fuji Xerox Received Deinkability Certification

European Association, INGEDE, Recognizes Xerox iGen4®, 700 Digital Color Press and Color 800 / 1000 Presses

Philippines, May 18, 2011 – Xerox Corporation and Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. have scored high results in the latest deinking tests from the International Association of the Deinking Industry (INGEDE).  The certifications were given to the toners used within the digital color production systems; Xerox iGen4®, 700 Digital Color Press and Color 800 Press/Color 1000 Press.

INGEDE, a globally recognized association made up of leading European manufacturers and paper mills, conducts a widely accepted, standardized test to identify the types of printed paper  products*1 that have the best recyclability when they are deinked.  The ‘good deinkability’ rating means the production systems produced high scores in the evaluation of five parameters – luminosity, color, cleanliness, ink elimination and filtrate darkening.

Deinking, which refers to the removal of printing inks or toner from recovered paper, is a key step in the paper recycling process.  It is particularly crucial in the production of graphic paper, which requires high paper quality; undeinkable inks can spoil the recycling process by either reducing the brightness of the pulp or by leaving ink specks on the recycled paper.

“Sustainability is part of our DNA,” says Koji Tezuka, senior general manager, Marketing, International Business Group, Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific. “We have dedicated decades into research, innovation and resources in this area, encompassing every step of the value chain from the design stage, through manufacturing, to disposal to work towards a sustainable global environment.  The INGEDE test results are another affirmation of our continuous efforts.”
Xerox and Fuji Xerox continue to keep abreast of issues and trends in the printing industry and ensure that their ranges of products are sustainable throughout their total life cycle.

*1: Paper products include newsprint, magazines, office paper, etc.
